| These
are some examples of scrimshaw I did many years ago . I learned scrimshaw
in about 1977 during my four years in the Coast Guard. I no longer do any
scrimshaw, and do not condone or participate in the buying or selling of
ivory in any form. Scrimshaw should only be done on discarded antlers, found
bones, plastic simulated ivory and such. The item on the top row, 3rd from
left, is a bear tooth I found while I was stationed at Cape Sarichef, in
the Aleutian Islands in 1976. (All items close to actual size.) Go to photos of Cape Sarichef. |
